Barcelona is a great place to visit for a short city break but if you are only visiting for a long weekend, you need to stay in the centre to make the most of this beautiful city. I have put together a review of three very nice hotels that are all located in the centre but come at very different prices! Find out which one will suit your budget....
The budget option is Chic & Basic Tallers which is a hostel, but more of an upmarket one! It is very modern with white furniture and wooden floors. All the rooms have an en-suite and come complete with a plasma TV, air conditioning, heating and a docking station that links to the speakers in the room so you can listen to your iPod! As with most hostels there is a communal area where you can prepare food, go on the internet or even relax on one of the sofas, they even stock the cupboards with snacks and drinks which you can help yourself too! Chic & Basic Tallers is located right by Universitat Square and only a 5 minute walk away from Catalunya Square which is the perfect location for tourists! Rooms start from around 40 a night depending on the size of the room.
The mid range budget is called Murmuri which is a boutique hotel. The hotel interior was designed by Kelly Hoppen who has decorated the hotel in pale shades of grey, brown and cream, giving it a very sophisticated feel. The rooms all come with a plasma TV, Wi-Fi, an iPod docking station and an exclusive collection of bathroom products from The White Company. As the Murmuri is the sister hotel of the 5 Star Grand Luxe Majestic Hotel & Spa any guests are able to use the Majestic Hotel's facilities. The Murmuri is located in the centre of Barcelona on the Eixample, beside the Passeig de Gracia, making it very well connected to all major underground routes. Rooms start from 155, but they always bring out special packages and deals, so look out for them!
The final and most luxurious option is the Suites Avenue apartments. The apartments are spacious, very stylish and completely sound-proof! All apartments come complete with a sitting room, fully-equipped kitchen and antique artwork. Guests staying at one of the Suites Avenue apartments have access to an outdoor pool, gym and the Suites Avenue's very own museum which holds a collection of Hindu and Buddhist art! Suites Avenue is also located right in the centre of Barcelona opposite Gaudi's La Pedrera building. Prices for these apartments are considerably higher and start from 220 per night.
