Hotel In Barcelona

If you stay at a Rambla Hotel in Barcelona you will be right in the middle of all the action and surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and clubs. This lovely area of Barcelona is full of lovely hotels and apartments ranging from the most expensive to budget style accommodation.

At the top end of this famous avenue is Placa Catalunya where you will find many open-air restaurants, cafes and hotels and the huge department store El Corte Inglés and opposite are Fnac and Habitat. Starting at the top is the Ramblas de Canaletes (Rambla of the Fountain) where you will find the famous Font de Canaletes. Legend has it that if you drink from the fountain you will always return to Barcelona. This is also where the famous Barcelona football team Barca meet to celebrate their victories.

This exciting avenue stretches for 2 kilometers from Placa Catalunya to Port Vell and is divided into five sections which in reality are just a series of short streets called Ramblas de Canaletes, Rambla dels Estudis, Rambla de Stan Josep, Rambla dels Caputxins and Rambla Santa Monica. At the end of the avenue is the famous Passeig Colom and the Monument a Colum (Columbus Monument). From his lofty perch Christopher Columbus greets visitors arriving from cruise ships and those exploring the waterfront of this beautiful city. The statue overlooks Port Vell and the harbor and on Rambla del Mar are many shops and restaurants in the huge Maremagnum shopping mall. At night this is also a popular place to go clubbing.

Barcelona Center Hotel
If you stay at a Rambla Hotel in Barcelona you are surrounded by open-air restaurants, cafes, bars, museums, the lovely Teatre de Liceu and La Boqueria Market. Close by are the Gothic Quarter, La Ribera and El Born which is also near Barceloneta beach. Just a few yards from Placa Catalunya is the Eixample district where all the upmarket shops and amazing Gaudi architecture such as Casa Mila and La Pedrera are located.

La Boqueria Market
This amazing market is at the top of La Rambla close to the district of El Raval and Placa Catalunya. The market attracts millions of visitors every year as it is stocked with the most tempting array of food. Stalls are heavily laden with exotic fruits and vegetables as well as a huge selection of fresh fish, offal and chickens. Huge hams are suspended in rows above the numerous shops and there are bags of snails and the local specialities of salted cod and sausages. For those with a sweet tooth there are trays of the most exquisite chocolates and nuts and also a great selection of cheeses and other tantalizing food.

This is such a beautiful city that many people do return year after year and they always head straight for La Rambla because as well as being in the center of the city, it is also one of the most exciting avenues in the world. If you decide to stay in a Barcelona Center Hotel in Ramblas and need to stock up with food there is a Carrefour Express supermarket on La Rambla and another very large supermarket in El Corte Inglés.
